Salman Butt Enters PSL 2019 replace M. Hafeez

Pakistan Super League PSL  has been the part and parcel of the changes from its beginning till now. As all the leagues are being played in their own country stadiums but due to terror attacks on team Sri Lank in Lahore, International cricket has been banned in Pakistan. Therefore UAE became the hometown of Pakistani cricket. Pakistani fans couldn’t enjoy a single match of PSL 1 in on Pakistani soil.

The 2nd season of PSL also got some news as the PSL 2 started the spot-fixing scandal of some of the players of Islamabad United came on the surface and PCB suspended the players and the 2nd season flavor of PSL also got a bit bitter. Likewise, 3rd year of PSL also seen many ups and downs but these are part and parcel of the game.

Salman Butt replace M. Hafeez in PSL 2019

Now PSL is in the 4th season and going bigger, brighter and larger. This year PCB has announced in the PSL Schedule that 8 matches of PSL 2019 will be played in Pakistan. Things were going quite smooth but suddenly the Pulwama attack happened and Indian official broadcasters refused to broadcast PSL 2019 in India.  The same got the issue of PSL Live Streaming rights. As previously PSL Live Streaming was available on youtube.

Likewise, sad news for Pakistani fans is that the new captain of Lahore Qalandars M. Hafeez has got his thumb fractured on 16th February 2019 in the 2nd match of Lahore Qalandars against Karachi Kings. Unfortunately, he might now be able to play in PSL 2019 further, therefore, Lahore Qalandars required a replacement for him. Therefore it was decided in accordance of the rules of the PSL and Qalanders have requested the Event Technical Committee to replace M. Hafeez with Salman Butt.

It should have to be kept in mind that, Salman but remained out from the international cricket for 5 years ban. It was reported by espncricinfo,

“Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif, and Mohammad Amir have been banned for 10, 7 and 5 years respectively after an ICC tribunal found them guilty of spot-fixing stemming from the Lord’s Test against England last year. The sanctions against Butt and Asif have five and two years suspended, which means that the trio cannot play any official, sanctioned cricket, international or domestic, for a minimum of five years, until September 2015.

The suspended sentences on Butt and Asif have been made conditional on their making no further breaches of the code and participating in an anti-corruption education programme, under the auspices of the PCB.” – Source espncricinfo.

Right now Salman Butt is fit and playing cricket in a nice manner. We wish Salman but all the luck for the future matches. However, Lahore Qalandars coach and management is quite disappointed at the injury of M. Hafeez.

Aqib Javaid the Coach of Lahore Qalandars says,

“It was unfortunate to lose Hafeez. We believe that only an experienced Pakistani player like Salman Butt can replace him.”

Whereas the Manager of Lahore Qalandars Mr. Sameen Rana has praised Salman Butt.

Sameen Rana Says,

“Salman is a good addition to the squad. He was available in past and has been in good form. We believe that he deserves a chance to showcase his form at this level as well.”
